About Before The Coffee Gets Cold Book

The book was originally published in Japanese and then translated into different languages.

It’s a time travel story that happens at the cafe, where a person can go back in time by drinking coffee.

There are three books in this series with different short stories with one theme.

Before The Coffee Gets Cold Summary/Plot

A cafe in Tokyo, where they serve specially brewed coffee to their customers that will give them chance to travel back in time. To travel back in time customers must sit on a particular seat, they cannot leave the cafe, and they must finish drinking before the coffee gets cold to come back in present.

The book has four different stories of different people but they all are connected to each other as some are regular customers and staff of the cafe.

All four of them want to travel back in time for different reasons hoping it will help them, in order to – confront the man who left them, receive a letter from their husband whose memory has been taken by Alzheimer’s, see their sister one last time, and to meet the daughter they never got the chance to know.

Before The Coffee Gets Cold Book Review

This is a beautifully written novel. It’s simple yet effective that will make you emotional. I loved the simplicity of this book. it’s simple yet so interesting to read.

All the stories in the novel are heart-touching. This is the first time and first book that made me so emotional that I almost had tears in my eyes.

All four stories are different from each other which gives readers different elements of the story of different people.

After reading the first chapter I was like this is an okay type of book. The second chapter was amazing in that I got emotional and the third was also great, then the fourth story was really heart-touching, and heart-melting it was just amazing.

Even though they can travel back in time they can’t change the present so what’s the point of going back? Still, they went back hoping that maybe they can turn the conversation in a different way, or they can get closure or they can meet a certain person.

The story is well-detailed. It is not a fast pace but still, the writing is great. It didn’t feel like its a medium pace book.

All the character’s descriptions made them feel like a real person in a short time. This is the best thing as it helps you to connect to them more as a human rather than a fictional character.

It’s translated from Japanese to English. Still, it didn’t lose its essence because when we translate from one language to another language some of the essence or meanings of the words and story gets lost but this one didn’t feel like that. It is translated so well.

I read this book because I wanted to read something new and a short book. This one ended up being one of my favorite books and also I really like the cover of this book. It was the first thing that got me attracted to this book.

I wanted to read a Japanese author for a long time but I wasn’t able to decide on a book, as there are so many amazing Japanese authors. But finally, I just did and it was totally worth it.

If you want to read a book by a Japanese author you can go ahead with this one.

You might love this book so much or you might not like it. I suggested this book to a few people and they all enjoyed reading it.
