About The Girl On The Train Book

It has multiple POVs.

All the characters are unreliable and unlikable.

The story is a first-person narrative told from the point of view of three women: an alcoholic, a liar, and a cheat- Rachel, Anna, and Megan. All of them are the unreliable narrator.

The story is very interesting and intriguing.

Slow at the start but in a short time, it becomes very gripping.

There’s also a movie on Girl on the train. The film rights were acquired before the book was published.

The Girl on The Train Summary/Plot

Rachel is divorced, alcoholic, and struggling mentally and her career is going nowhere. Rachel takes the same train every day. The train stops at a signal every day for some time.

This allows her to look at a house near the train with a couple whom she named ‘Jess and Jason’. She even started to think that she knows them and that the couple’s life is perfect, unlike her life.

One day she saw something shocking. Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she’s only watched from afar. Soon she gets involved in the case and with everyone involved in it. Is she reliable? Or as she is unreliable as everyone says.

The Girl On The Train Book Review

It’s a well-written, precisely plotted Psychological Thriller. Unreliable narrator one after another. It kept me hooked on the story till the end.

The start was slow but as the story progresses it gets very gripping. I really enjoyed this book. I like the atmosphere, the suspense, and the way the story unfolded.

Paula Hawkins has dropped so many diverting and convincing red herrings in the story which makes it hard for you to guess the ending.

I felt pity, disgust, and compassion so much for one character which is rare. Rachel’s alcoholic character makes her more unreliable. Even though the other characters are no good they are suspicious till the end which intrigued me in the story.

The ending twist is shocking. I wasn’t able to guess the main culprit until it was revealed in the story. I had a suspicion about every character but not about the main culprit.

I enjoyed reading it. I completed this book in just 2 days. If anyone asks me for a good thriller suggestion that this book will definitely be on that list.
