What Lies Between Us Summary/Plot
This is about a mother and daughter. Every other night Maggie and Nina have dinner together. After dinner, Nina takes Maggie back to her room in the attic and uses heavy chains to keep Maggie locked up. Because Maggie has done something to Nina that she can’t forgive.
But there are many things that Nina doesn’t know and Maggie is not going to reveal that even if she dies.
What Lies Between Us Book Review
This is definitely a page-turner and engaging read. It kept me on the edge about all the revelation and the plot twist actually a lot of plot twists.
The plot twists were amazing and very interesting to guess. You’ll do a lot of guessing while reading this
The book is written in two POVs and Two Timelines. Two POVs of Maggie and Nina. Timelines of present and past (twenty years back).
You’ll be guessing things and waiting to see if your guess is right or not.
I loved how this was written. Some twists were predictable for me but it wasn’t a disappointment mostly it is but in this book, I was feeling good that some of my guesses were right.
If I have to describe this book in a line then “Two crazy people in one house doing crazy stuff.”
Characters did seem realistic but when I look at the whole story it doesn’t. Of course, then it is fiction so that doesn’t actually matter. But still, these things can happen in real life too.
Both Maggie and Nina are messed up people. Maggie as a mother thinks that she is protecting her daughter Nina. But Nina on the other hand doesn’t think like that.
Nina also has a problem with remembering some specific things which Maggie knows but she wouldn’t reveal those things to Nina ever. Maggie is not going to reveal that even though she has been locked up in the attic in chains for years.
Whenever they both have dinners together there’s a lot of tension in the story because you never know what can happen next.
I have rated this book 5 stars. I did contemplate giving it 5. But then it neither made me feel bored even a little bit nor disappointed about anything. So it’s definitely a fantastic read.
If you like reading thrillers or messed up characters then you should definitely go for this one.
There are many triggering stuff so do check them out if you have any.
